Hand of Fate Wines was born out of the perpetual search for the perfect wine.

Each vintage brings us close, and it is the pursuit of this unattainable goal that drives the way we make wine: from sourcing grapes on two continents from vineyards that speak to us in Stellenbosch and the Napa Valley, to respecting the vintage and terroir with minimal intervention in the winery.

By making small batch, limited release wines, we take only the best that nature has to offer and share this passionate endeavour with you.

Broad international experience in some of the world’s most renowned and exciting wine regions has shown us that there are several ways to make great wines, but the golden thread running through all of these is a philosophy of growing exceptional vineyards to make extraordinary wines and sculpting the winemaking process to the need of each individual vintage. Working closely with passionate growers who share this vision, we ensure that each vintage showcases the unique character of the vineyard it was sourced from. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimally balanced ripeness and acidity as dictated by the growing season and handled as gently as possible from vine to winery.

In the winery we believe in minimal intervention and letting the grapes dictate every decision we make: from whole bunch pressing with zero sulphur, to natural fermentation and the absence of fining and filtering. All of this is done to preserve the natural integrity of the wine and showcase the unique character of each vintage.
